During our Lent journey, Year 5 have been refelecting on the link between the parable of the lost son and the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and the meaning of the signs and symbols in the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
During our Lenten preparations, we are making our Stations of the Cross to set up outside our classroom.
Mr. Scully, a CAFOD volunteer, visited Year 5 to deliver a fascinating workshop about the work of CAFOD. Year 5 found out about how CAFOD is helping people such as Florence in Zambia. Through CAFOD’s help, Florence now has a fish farm that will help her and her family have a secure future. Discovering what it feels like to be a refugee gave us all a lot to think about.
In RE we have been reflecting on the effect inspirational people have on the lives of others and how this is inspired by the life of Jesus.
Year 5 have been carrying out science experiments, using scientific methods, to find out the rate at which salt dissolves in water.
Year 5 have been spending this week investigating properties of shapes, finding out about all of the different ways they can describe 3D shapes, learning how to predict using patterns and finding the number of parallel and perpendicular lines in polygons.
Year 5 have been improving their English skills in comprehension and using role play to improve their character descriptions.
