Literacy - We have been writing a letter to Little Red Riding Hood warning her of the wolf's plan.
Maths - We have been looking at coins and identifying their value.
Science - We have been looking at plants and learning about pollination.
Topic work - We had a wonderful day dressed as pirates. Thank you for your support. During the day we learnt how to walk the plank and imagined we were captains on our own ship.
This week we have been doing lots of exciting work on pirates.
On Wednesday we are asking your child to come to school dressed as a pirate for our special pirate day!
RE - We have been talking about how Jesus appeared to the disciples and how they would have felt.
Maths - We have been learning to count on and backwards in 10s.
Literacy - We have been writing postcards and learning how to extend our sentences using the words so and because.

This week we have been learning about Easter.
In RE we have created stained glass crosses using tissue paper. We retold the story of Good Friday using role play and celebrated Mass with the rest of the school.
We have had a wonderful week participating in Easter activities, we hope you all enjoyed your chocolate nests.
On Thursday we loved the Spring sunshine and took our learning outside.

This week we have been participating in Science Week activities.
It was really exciting to watch the Wiggly Wild Show. There were lots of exotic animals and we learnt lots about them.
In RE we learnt about the Good Samaritan and we role played the story.
Last week we baked bread in history, to enhance our understanding of the Great Fire of London.
In RE we have been learning about Jesus and his disciples. We talked about how we would feel if we were the disciples and explored this through role play.
During PE we enjoyed the good weather and played ring games. It was so much fun!
On Thursday we had a visitor called Clieo Stephenson she spoke to us about being healthy and showed us her special running shoes and her medal.
Today we are making bread in class as we are learning about The Great Fire of London and how the fire started in a bakery.
In Literacy we have been learning about verbs.
We are still working hard learning how to tell the time we have been practising O'clock and half past.
Homework is in book bags please encourage your child to use a pencil and to keep work neat and tidy.
We celebrated book week and on Thursday we visited Eltham Library and listened to an author read her book.

The homework for the half term is in the children's book bags. This will be in a homework pack and not in their homework books.
Year 1 had an enjoyable trip to the Science Museum and learnt about a variety of materials and their properties. Photographs are to follow.
In literacy we have been writing instructions. We followed these instructions and made jam sandwiches.
There are still a number of outstanding permission slips for our trip to the Science Museum on Tuesday 7th February. Can you please ensure that you return these slips to the class teacher by Monday 6th February at the latest.
In Maths we solved money problems with our partners.
We have enjoyed learning about Chinese New Year. We practised a ribbon dance and made mini Chinese dragons.
In Year 1 we have been exploring RE through role play. We talked about when Mary and Joseph visited the Temple.
Year 1 went on a trip to the 'Discover Children's Story Centre'.
They explored the fantastic indoor story world taking trips on a special steam ship, climbing clouds and being on lookout at the control panel in the observation centre.
Year 1 also enjoyed the story garden, playing on the giant musical instruments and sliding down the huge monster's tongue.
It was a fantastic trip and year one had a great time.

Next week in maths, we will be focusing on measurement and mental maths techniques. In literacy we will be continuing with The Snail and the Whale and creating story boxes about the story.
Year 1 have been getting to know their new class and learning all the new structures and routines.
They have had the opportunity to get to know a few new facts about their classmates.
This year I am keen to focus on positive affirmation making sure the children know that they are all special and unique.
